John Peel

News has just reached us that John Peel apparently died today from a shock heart-attack. This is a very sad day for the British independent music scene for whom John Peel has been at the forefront for decades, tirelessly promoting new music that he likes rather than pandering to major labels for a playlist. Many bands have him to thank for starting them off and it's going to be an impossible void in radio broadcasting to fill. He was an icon of anti-cool and a legend to people who cared about music. He will always be remembered and has been as important to British music as anyone, The Beatles, The Stones, The Clash, anyone. Thoughts to his family go from both of us.

John Peel - Legend.
RIP

  • Such a sudden death for someone who still had so much more to do. So much of the popular talent today being heard, is thanks to John Peel seeing something when it wasn't popular, and bringing it to the world.

    He was indeed a legend.
